It appears to be the disk. I called place where I bought the game and they said a games have been returned since yesterday's release. I will order the lens cleaner. Message 8 of 12 52, Views. Won't download. Irishthunderbol t. RAM is small in size and fixed at eight gigabytes, but the amount that is available for use is actually much less than that, since the system uses up space.
But when you compare HD to the Blu-Ray Player, HD is on the order of four to six times faster in read speed than Blu-Ray — 25 megabytes per second versus megabytes per second.
Because the games have gotten so large, you cannot load the entire game on RAM, meaning pieces of the game must be swapped in and out of RAM. To keep the wait time to a minimum, most modern games simply install most, if not all, of the game from the game disk onto the HD when you first put it in.
As for large updates on "day one," unfortunately, in order to meet a ship deadline e. Perhaps the availability and the assumption that everyone has high-speed Internet access make companies more cavalier about these large "day one" updates. Just imagine if we had no Internet … if there was a critical bug in the game, they would have to send out all-new physical copies of the games! Requiring the game disc to play is -- for the most part -- for copyright protection.
Why so many updates? Have game developers just become real perfectionists these days? The updates are there to fix bugs in the game. There are more updates now because games have become larger and more complex.
Keep in mind, the original PlayStation games came on CDs with the capacity of megabytes; PS4 games on Blu-Ray discs have the capacity of 50 gigabytes, or about times larger, meaning there is a lot more room for bugs in the software. Do you think game discs will stick around for awhile?
What's the argument for keeping them, at this point? They don't seem to do much except feed Gamestop's profit margins used games and all. Instead, they can hop over the online store anytime, select a game, and own it within minutes. Some people prefer to purchase all their PS4 games as physical disc copies. Gamers in this category like the security of having the game in their hands.
A longer, more complex game that takes dozens of hours works better as a digital purchase. Its replay value is high, and the experience is ongoing, so the hybrid gamer prefers to keep it as a digital copy. For other games that are quick to finish, or games that someone would only play once, these hybrid gamers buy the disc. Because they can resell it once they are done and recoup some of the original cost. There should be information about various technical requirements, including the minimum hard drive space that you need to be able to play the game.
Of course, the game may take up a bit more than that, especially once you start saving a lot of extra files related to it. But any other normal DVD i have at home doesnt work. Which is funny considering it could play any movie i had a couple of months ago and i blame sony, because as soon as i updated the system is when this stuff starting happening.
Ive taken the ps4 apart in case there was a sticker, but no sticker. Im at the point where im considering changing to PC. Show 4 more comments.
David apostolickid I had the unrecognized disc problem for a while, tried all kinds of fixes and methods I found online and nothing worked.
Until I found a fix that worked for me every single time. As soon as I enter the disc, I start to tap semi-hard on top of the ps4 around the area where the disc is until my playstation reads the disc.
Works every time. I still have unrecognized disc issues if I don't tap on it. This is a repost just in case someone didn't see my answer. Some people have told me it worked for them. So surprised it worked.
You can hear the disc begin to spin with each tap.. I was so worried that I was gonna have to have the HD replaced and it was gonna cost me a fortune!! Thanks so much- this fix is so EASY! Reading all these comments from this post and the first answer and seeing it work for you guys is awesome. I'm glad it has helped you play your games with such a simple solution. TronicsFix tronicsfix. This is a fairly common problem with PS4's. You'll need to replace the drive or the laser at a minimum. Usually just replacing the laser will fix this issue, but sometimes they need the entire drive replaced. My problem is that my PS4 won't read blu ray disks, both game disks and movies. I've tried reinstalling the current update and rebuilding the database, hasn't worked. When I insert a blu ray game or movie, PS4 rumbles and spins for a bit, then stops, then repeats several times until it says unrecognized disk.
I'm left to think the laser or disc drive needs to be replaced. Any idea?
